A Big Improvement for the Heart related Diseases Operations!

February 3rd 2010 02:24
In the past, when you’re undergoing the heart surgery, you might have a higher chance of having “Table Death”. However, this has became the past, as the success rate of heart related diseases have been improving a lot, especially in these few years.

Based on the latest statistic from the UK, the study shown that there are moe elderly high-risk patients were being treated right now and have a better surviving rate.

PS: For those who have Haemophobia (Fear of blood), please don't view this picture. If you still insist to look on it, then watch it at your own risk!

Below here is the statistic, which is based on analysis of more than 400,000 operations by the UK’s Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery:

• Coronary artery bypass surgery alone:
2001: 2.3%
2008: 1.5%

• All coronary artery bypass surgery:
2001: 2.6%
2008: 1.7%

• Heart valve surgery alone:
2001: 5.2%
2008: 3.5%

• Combined valve and coronary artery bypass surgery:
2001: 8.3%
2008: 6.1%

Believe it or not, one in five coronary artery bypass patients are basically over 75-year-old, and they’re having a higher rate of surviving, after the surgery!

An applaud to all the cardiac surgeons, as you all have made a huge improvement over the past seven years!
