Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause lip and mouth sores and genital herpes.

The first symptoms of cold sores may include pain around your mouth and on your lips, a fever, a sore throat, or swollen glands in your neck or other parts of the body.

Shingles is a patch of painful blisters that appear on one side of the body. These blisters are filled with fluid. These blisters are caused by the varicella-zoster virus, a virus from the herpes family causes chicken pox in us. Shingles may cause permanent damage to vision and hearing capability in some cases. If shingles is found near the eyes and ears it should be treated immediately.
Symptoms of shingles
• Pain, burning, tingling, numbness or extreme sensitivity in a certain part of your body
• A red rash that begins a few days after the pain
• Fluid-filled blisters that break open and crust over
• Itching
• Fever and chills
• Headache
• Upset stomach or abdominal pain
The medicine that is used during these infections symptoms treatment is acyclovir. This medicine reduces the pain that is caused when the symptoms appear. You can Buy Acyclovir and it is available in the strengths of 200mg, 400mg and 800mg tablets.

Very informative post about HSV. But may I add HAVING herpes is not indication for ACYVLOVIR. In IMMUNOCOMPETENT PERSONS having Shingles with constitutional effects such as fever , symptomatic treatment can be used, like acetaminophen and calamine solution .
During an outbreak, keep the infected area as clean and dry as possible. This will help your natural healing processes. Some doctors recommend warm showers in order to cleanse the infected area.towel dry gently, or dry the area
Also one can use Topical penciclovir cream for the cutaneous MANIFESTATION IN FORM of orolabial and genital sores and blisters and treatment for secondary bacterial skin infections may be required.
antiviral therapy not prescribed for everyone ,most commonly ipatients who have six or more recurrences of genital herpes per year can be treated with one of the following regimens: acyclovir, 400 mg twice daily; valacyclovir, 1 g daily; or famciclovir, 250 mg twice daily.
It IS VERY TRUE that Acyclovir have been effective in reducing the frequency and duration of outbreaks. But it is a drug with many side effects if used systemically( orally or IV) and not cost effective at times .It might be a good idea to discuss options with your doctor.
