February 24th 2010 01:03
In most of the time, people didn’t seem to care too much about the air pollution. Some of them even thought that it’s necessary, as it’s one of the ways to bring a country to wellness!
Well, maybe this new study is going to shed some light to the people and rise up their awareness about air pollution! According to the new study, which is published in the August 2009 edition of Pediatrics, the researchers have discovered that there’s a strong relationship between the increased urban air pollution and decreased IQ amongst children.
In the report, they’ve listed out that the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is the main cause of why many children in the urban area have a lower IQ than those who living in Suburban or rural area!
PAHs are the chemicals released into the air, due to the burning of non-renewable resources.
A series of tests have been carried out in New York City, Washington D.C. and Harlem. The result is quite shocking, as 140 out of 249 children who took the tests have been exposed to the high PAH in a very long period, were found to have 4.31 - 4.67 fewer IQ than those who have a low level exposure to the PAHs!
Don’t be panicked, as there’s a solution for this problem. All you have to do is practice a healthy lifestyle, such as drink green tea daily; choose the foods that free from any GMO stuffs and exercise regularly. By performing these methods on your children, they’ll be safe from the ravage of PAHs!
