Protect your IQ

December 10th 2006 03:00
Extracted and compiled from CLEO magazine 2005

Sometimes when you think you have problem remembering and even feel weak and fatigue at times? Well, besides stress, you might have a “brain situation”. This article that I found recently is rather useful for those who would like to strengthen their memory and IQ again.

Get fit: Too busy with work and just too lazy to sweat yourself? You might need to know something more. Unfit people have poorly regulated sugar levels that cause part of the brain that controls memory to shrink. Yes! SHRINK!

How do you overcome this? By taking a brisk walk weekly to make a difference. Even a short 20 minute walk 3 times a week can gives blood circulation a boost so that proper sugar and oxygen level will send to your brain and the rest of the body.

Take supplements: Some research suggests that gingko biloba and ginseng helps improve memory and alertness. However, not everyone is able to take even though it is from natural resources. Before taking them, do consult with your doctor before you go on this combo.

Do it differently: Occasionally challenge your brain by doing things you normally do differently. A good example is taking a different route to work. Keep looking for ways to make your brain to work harder rather than sticking to a routine. Some research indicates that people who do this stay mentally alert for longer.

Hi katyzzz,

Great to see your really great support here! ^_^

Yes, ginseng can be good to many but there are a lot of types of ginseng that some may not be able to take it. Some can make the body cold and some is very hot for the body. So before you choose a ginseng, you need to know whether your body can stand heaty food or vise versa. Doctors who knows your body condition well would help you out on this.

Generally ginseng is pretty good and can be all right with many people as long as it is double steamed with other items like bird's nest (as an example). Ginseng tea is very popular but it may be too concentrated for a few.

Agreed. Didn't I say something somewhere today about moderation?

I'll say it again... 'All things in moderation, especially moderation.' --Oscar Wilde.

And learn a musical instrument. Do crosswords. And learn a new language. That'll keep things sharp!

Hi Lauren!

You are most correct. Music actually stimulates both the left and right brain, for you have both music and vocal. That's why I truly enjoy that brain boost with my weekend choir practise! ^_^

Thank you so much for dropping by! Trully appreciate your comment!
