Are we eating right to burn our fat away?

July 13th 2007 01:40
Recently due to dramatic consistant coughing (believe me, it's quite dramatic if you are coughing every interval of 2 minutes), thus deadlines to meet. I have once again fall under the abyss of unhealthy lifestyle.

And moreover, when you work for an average of 14 hours a day, sitting in front of the PC you are not helping your body to burn necessary fat out of your reserved storage.

Then I came across this interesting site Burn The Fat website from google adsense once again reminded us that "eating less does not make you burn fat".

True it is because when you are skipping food, usually beer in the weekends and hardly any exercise won't get you anywhere to the slick and healthy body you wish you had from the celebs (talking about Jessica Alba!)

But don't be deceived by the ads that talks about Thermogenic Foods, as the article said because actually ALL foods are "thermogenic" because the body must use energy to digest them. This is known as the "thermic effect of food" (TEF) or "specific dynamic action of food. (Ref. Burn The Fat)

So what does the site want to remind us and suggest us what targetted food we should have?

Whole solid food. Like protein based foods for instance.

There is an interesting list of food you should look into that what the site suggests:
* chicken breast
* turkey breast
* game meats (venison, elk, etc)
* bison, buffalo
* very lean red meat such as top round and lean sirloin (grass fed is especially nutritious)
* almost all types of fish
* shellfish and other seafood

* egg whites (limit the yolks)

Well, for those who are not into meat, I would suggest protein based vegetables such as beans, don't under estimate groundnuts as well.

Here are some interesting suggested list of food combination for those who have no problem with both meat and vegetables.

(1) Select a green vegetable or fibrous vegetable such as asparagus, green beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, salad vegetables, etc., and then
(2) Combine that with one of the lean proteins (previously mentioned above).

That is the foundation of your fat burning meal (lean protein fibrous carb).

add:

(3) Starchy carbs or grains - natural only - such as brown rice, oats, or sweet potatoes - in the amount your calorie needs dictate and to the degree your body can tolerate starches and grains (some people are carb-sensitive). Fruit is also acceptable, although focus more on the green and fibrous vegetebles due to the lower caloric density.

Of course the article did recomend that carbs are best consume in the morning, especially after a heavy workout.

So hope you find this article interesting to read for the day.

Thanks for the info, Jessicca.

Yep, skipping meals are actually worst than eating one. Everything in moderation is best ...and coupled with some exercise even if it's just walking is even better.

You are most welcome Lara. ^_^

I am glad that you liked the article.

I remembered I was once so busy with my assignments that I was hardly sleeping. The only food I was taking was actually ham and pepsi.... lol.. yet I lost 3kg after a week without realising it...

In some ways it was working to burn fat, but with soda is a bad idea...

Thank you so much for stopping by.

May you have a blessed weekend.
