Honesty a Priceless Gem

"It's a dog-eat-dog's world..." My friend used to tell me
"You can't be too honest and to naive when you are in a world like this. You just can't trust anyone anymore because we don't even know how many out there are truly sincere people. There's always a catch behind of any gesture."
This is what I hear whenever I get some time off and have tea with my friends. They are all in sales, and honestly, this profession often hide their true self during work and before you know it they have lost their true self, well most of them, not all.
Here is an article I came across a few days back, and it has remind me about how far have we walk away from our conscience, because of certain duty to be done, or even for the sake of others. And at the end of the day, how many of us truly live our life through with a clear conscience? Sleep without worrying what is happening next? Those who can do it, I believe is beautifully rare.
So I hope that everyone will have a good feed in your soul today and enjoy the article shared here:

Everybody wants peace of mind. You cannot have it by disobeying your conscience.
A gentleman went to a bank to withdraw from his account a sum of 3 thousand dollars. As soon as he left after the transaction, the cashier discovered that she paid him a hundred dollars short. Without waiting for the gentleman to discover this and return to the bank to claim the rest of the amount, the cashier rushed to his house and paid the balance.
Why did she hasten to do all this? Probably for 2 reasons. First, she did not want the customer to entertain even for a moment the doubt that the short payment was due to dishonesty. Second, she did not want the customer to experience any possible shock of discovery. The gentleman profusely thanked the honest cashier.
Does honesty pays? Of course. It does. An honest person never goes against his conscience. He never tries to lull his conscience to sleep by rationalising his actions.
Thought for reflection

I know there's a context for this type of thinking:
"You can't be too honest and to naive when you are in a world like this. You just can't trust anyone anymore because we don't even know how many out there are truly sincere people. There's always a catch behind of any gesture."
But I would have difficulty in living like this, I like to believe most people are honest, decent and kind. Yes, there are those that aren't and it's helpful to be aware of dangers but I don't like walking around assuming the worst of people in the world. I can't imagine living with this concept in my head....

Loved your end quote, Jessicca, very powerful, but not too impressive to those who have no concept of God. That makes it a tough one.

Learning Something Everyday
It is like a said, people who still has a heart of faith that humanity exist, are beautifully rare. And I have seen two response that has proven that the world is still beautiful.
You can't blame those who have been "wearing masks" most of their time, dealing with people, especially those who are in sales.
The quote that I wrote were from my friends, who have been betrayed too many times and they have no faith neither have God in their lives.
It is sad to know that these were once good people with beautiful hearts of trusting others.
Katyzzz,
The end quote was from the self-empowerment. Well, some can't take the word "God" but when you trully look into yourself, "God" the one who knows us well the most, exist, in all forms.
And honestly, it comes in a different form for those who doesn't believe in "God". Conscience is somewhere if the "Judge" will enter at the end of the day, or the end of your life (for non-believers), the Judge who knows your true soul the most. And to my love ones who are athiests, the "Judge" will be their true self.
If one takes the word "God" so seriously and get so edgy because of the word, what I can see, is one who doesn't want to look at the mirror of the soul and see what he / she has been walking through their entire lives.
thank you both so much for stopping by, I truly appreciate your comments
Have a blessed day
