Simple Marinara Recipe
April 4th 2008 05:24
People always says vegetarians tend to loose the colours of food in life, it need not necessary be true unless you’ve chosen the path of a true Buddhist who practises non-spices meals.
This is the same to cancer survival patients – it isn’t the end of the world towards “death to taste”.
The Cancer Project has kindly sent me the recipe of the week of making a simple marinara sauce, which comes great with pasta or polenta. So knowing that tomatoes (especially cooked tomatoes) are a rich source of lycopene, which has been proven to greatly reduce prostate cancer risk and increase survival, I am sure that everyone out there can enjoy a hearty healthy pasta meal with a smile on their faces!
Simple Marinara Sauce (Makes 4 servings)
Ingredients
1 28-ounce can tomato sauce, or 3 1/2 cups crushed tomatoes
6 fresh basil leaves, chopped
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 garlic cloves, chopped, or 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
Directions
Combine tomato sauce, basil, oregano, and garlic in a medium saucepan. Cook on low heat until bubbly, about 10 minutes.
