Ever Wondered Why: You are not losing weight?

“Oh, I’m on a diet.” This is a very common sentence for many who have that urge to loose that 1 size smaller. Friends are encouraging and you think you are doing the right thing to loose some weight. But why isn’t it working?
The fact is that you may not be doing the right way. Here is an interesting article I found from HealthToday magazine that gives you an overview what you should be checking on, and furthermore there might have other symptoms that you might not realised out of the norm that your body might not be doing its work in terms of loosing weight. So here are the list that you might want to check out:
Are you not eating?
When you starve yourself, your body starts consuming lean muscle tissue for fuel. Since your muscles are calorie-burning furnaces, less muscle mass means a slower metabolism. Remember that muscles burn 35 times more calories than fat does, pound per pound. If you can’t handle 3 meals a day, eating small frequent nutritious meals prevents your body from going on starvation mode.
Are you focusing too much on counting fat calories?
While watching the amount of fat you eat is good, it’s not enough. Many people avoid high fat foods but replace them with starches that can also turn into fat if unchecked. Remember that losing weight is a matter of math. Eat fewer calories than you burn each day; regardless of the source.
Are you eating back what you dieted?
Most of these are in the form of hidden calories: that extra shot of rum, the teaspoon of butter on your toast – these all add up over time. If keeping track of your intake is hard, make a food journal and include even the tiniest add-ons.
Here is a pretty good site to keep your food journal that you can check out:

Are you not exercising?
You have to exercise to sustain the weight lose you had at the start of dieting. Without exercise, your body will simple readjust its metabolism and you will eventually stop losing weight despite dieting. A balance exercise and strength training should always complement a weight-loss diet. If you are unsure what kind of exercise you need to do, start with the simple ones, such as at least 20 minutes of exercise, 3 times a day; or simply take up a special training program from the gym to have a professional trainer advice you.
Are you using the wrong portion size?
This is the most common dieting mistake. People tend to “under-report” the serving size they use. For example, many people think that a serving of pasta means a plate when, in fact, a real pasta serving is no bigger than a closed fist. Use the image below as a guide on correct serving sizes.
You might have a thyroid problem.
Hypothyroidism is when your thyroid gland produces little of the thyroid hormone, which revs up metabolism. The resulting sluggish metabolism makes it extremely difficult to lose fat. You can have this condition even when your thyroid gland isn’t enlarged (i.e. goitre). If you have tried everything and your body weight and proportion isn’t improving, raise this possibility on your next visit to the doctor.

Thank you so much for dropping by again!
I too didn't know that 1 serving size is THAT small... I thought it was small, but this chart shows it's actually smaller. LOL....
So we all know how to calculate our servings now. LOL...
Glad to know that the information above is useful. I was a bit worried that I'm posting too much dieting articles. I need to find more useful information and compile for everyone to read. ^_^
Have a nice day! Christmas is so near now that I began to feel it!
(Was just too busy to realise that for the past 2 weeks)

All your info is excellent and it's very reader-friendly which makes it even better. I find it hard to read things about weight loss that are too strict, makes me feel even podgier!!
I'm the opposite with Christmas looming...I was all happy and carefree a few days ago now I'm all irritated...must shrug it off and get back my cape of fun

You can't help 'em.
Fatty Boombas are what they are by and large.
They'll make up a million excuses as to why they are FBs.
The simple fact of the matter is if you are a FB and your body shape gives you the Vita Brits then do something about it.
Exercise daily & eat the right foods.
It's not rocket science.
If they are lazy & can't be arsed preparing half decent meals then just accept being a FB and stay in doors.
The streets belong to the slim & the fit!

This is a good piece of information. Now I need to keep reminding myself a plate of pasta in Italianis is about 3 servings, instead of 1...
Joe Blogg,
FBs are still human. But if they'd rather slug and stay home by all means. But if they want to change for the good the streets will always welcome all of them.
Is that not right?

Thank you so much for dropping by this area. ^_^
LOL... your comments are so cute. But like Lay-In said, if they really wanna make a difference, we must continue to welcome and encourage them. LOL...
I wouldn't go for too slim. Like my dad used to say, "The wind will blow your off if you are too skinny"
(To him, model-like "slim" is skinny bones)
Tracy,
I doubt you are a Fatty Boomba, because you are aware that health is important.
Lay-In,
You have chosen such wise words. ^_^
Trully appreciate your affort to continue to support my blog. You are a sweetie. ^_^

I think the key to losing weight is
Eat less, excercise more...
Intake should be less then outgoing energy.
It really is that simple!

Don't lay your guilt trip on me sister.
Jessica,
What the hell is this - ^_^ ?
Are you stoned?
As for the Fatty Boombas, if you are gunna let them waddle out onto the streets then make sure they adhere to strict rules like they can only walw in single file, on one side of the footpath and in the one direction.
And for the love of Tim Tams keep 'em off the beaches or only let them onto the sand on rainy days or winter.
I agree about encouraging them though.
I use a Mars Bar tied to a string.
Drop it a metre in front of 'em and walk at a steady pace.

Thank you so much for dropping by. It is always good to see new comments.
Yes, technically you are correct in what you said, as long as you know how much calories you should be cutting off and how much effort you are putting in exercise. Without exercise your body will slow down its metabolism, like you said, and like I stated at the top. However there are also other factors around that are more detail. I have a post of "Laws of Dieting Success" here that are more detailed. You can have a read and tell me what you think there.
Hope to see you around again. ^_^
Joe,
Your words are truly entertaining... LOL...
^_^ is the same as
Just another way of showing a smiley face.
I like your idea of putting a mars bar (or any of their favorites) on a long string and encourage them to walk in a single fold.
Tracy,
You are most welcome. ^_^
