December 9th 2008 17:30
Welcome back and today, we want to talk about the present situation of phobia and the consequences to all the people that having the phobias!
There are many recent surveys have been revealed that phobias are the most commonly diagnosed mental disorder in Western psychiatric medicine. Believe it or not, 2.5 out of 10 people that living in these present days have different types of phobias and most of them didn’t even know it until they do!
Meanwhile, many studies had indicated that between twenty and twenty-five percent of the population may be affected at any one time with non-diagnosis making the figure even higher!
Children and adults of both sexes are being affected and an untreated child may or may not carry the phobia into adult life. Some of the people will have a single phobia, while others are phobic in response to many stimuli. Beside that, age and gender are sometimes relevant with certain phobias being more common to a particular age or sex.
General population would probably agree that they have experienced phobic symptoms to a certain extent, even if only on a single occasion. As a matter of fact, there are many surveys have shown that seventy percent of people have been affected by a phobia at some stage in life and that nearly all respondents are acquainted with at least one person who will display those phobic symptoms.
