The Causes of Anemia and The Effective Cures!
March 15th 2009 01:14
First of all, I must clearly mention it that Anemia has nothing to do with Insomnia. Anemia is a situation, where one person does not have enough red blood cells or hemoglobin in his/her blood.
PS: Hemoglobin is the oxygen-carrying pigment, and it can be found in red blood cells.
Iron-deficiency anemia is one of the most common types of anemia, where it could easily being treated by right diet and iron supplement.
Below here is the picture of comparison between the normal red blood cells (left) and the sickled red blood cells (right):
Pernicious anemia (My former high school Biology’s teacher has this form of anemia) is the rarest form of anemia, where the body cannot absorb enough Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) from the digestive system. When this situation happens, it can cause inadequate production of red blood cells, where Vitamin B12 is the essential nutrient to make new red blood cells. To be honest, I’ve saw my teacher fainted for several times during the class, due to this horrible anemia!
By the way, the Vitamin B12 can easily be found in eggs, fortified cereals, soy milk, milk and much more. The truth is the quantity of Vitamin B12 in fortified cereals is several times higher than fresh meats!

Learning Something Everyday
I later got some blood test and realised that I have abnormal red blood cells that couldn't absorb enough B12 and hence, the haemoglobin is also low and blood counts were few... almost to a dangerous stage... according to the doctors.
However the doctor asked me to take fresh salmon and also gave me some iron supplement, which she advised not to take too much for it will cause constipation (in my case) and yes, slowly and surely my condition improved, but then I am advised to reduce coffee intake as well (that time I was a coffee addict).
Now I take oats and cereals every day and this hasn't really occurred for a long time, unless I stayed up too late or squat around too long.
