The Story about My Former Drug Addicted Student

May 17th 2009 09:16
Sometimes, life can be so confusing. We can do many interesting and wonderful things in our life! However, I didn’t understand, why some of the people preferred to choose the wrong path?

To be honest, I’ve a true story that kept for over several years. Today, I decided to share it with all the Orbler readers. It’s about my former student who was a drug addict!

Darcy aka Druggy (This is his nickname, but she has not use it for over years) was my former beloved student. She’s a very dedicated and smart person. Believe it or not, she normally got above 750 scores for all the three SAT’s sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing during the pretest! She was of my favorite students and she’s always told me that her ambition is to enter to the Duke University. Also, she want to become a psychologist in the near future!

Honestly, I was very proud of her achievement. Unfortunately, thing wasn’t always as smooth as we thought here!

Maybe it’s due to the study’s depression, Darcy have to consume a certain amount of antidepressant everyday! Things getting out of control, when she’s starting to involve herself with the drugs. Honestly, her family didn’t even know about it, until Darcy’s mother discovered the drug pills when she’s cleaning out her daughter’s room.

At the very beginning, Darcy’s family tried to persuade her to take up the rehab program at the local drug treatment center. However, Darcy refused to do it and she locked herself in the room all day long.

Her parents worried about her situation and they made a call to my home. I was shocked when I found out the news! As a teacher, I have the responsibility to guide my students back on the right track.

I rushed to Darcy’s house, once I received the call. Frankly, maybe Darcy and I have a very strong connection, as she listened to every piece of words I told her!

Day after it, she decided to take my advice. Well, she went for a drug addiction treatment program. She’s a tough little woman, and she was completely clean from the drug addiction after only two months!

Darcy’s family and I were very happy about her big success. When Darcy backed to the school, she was heading to the counselor’s room and crying like a baby in front of me! At that moment, I was overjoyed and speechless…

Look at Darcy now! She’d already graduated from the high school, of course with flying color SAT’s result (The total scores for the three sections are 2340 points). The great new was she made her own way to the Duke University and she’s now majoring at Psychology subject! Way to go, Darcy.
