Fill your health with colours: Viva Violet

December 16th 2006 01:15
Extracted and compiled from OH! Magazine

Violet is another in the blue family; the soothing and relaxing shade of violet is the colour of spirituality. Some research claims that violet foods in fact can enhance meditation. They also strengthen the central nervous system and promote mental health.

These foods will calm those suffering from high anxiety and mental disorders and help with diseases of the scalp.

Take a bite out of these worthy violets:
- Eggplant (aubergine)
- Purple broccoli
- Purple onions
- Globe artichokes
- Purple capsicums
- Purple grapes
- Purple plums

Jessicca,

Just trying to catch up.

Purple foods help the liver, did you know, but do not include eggplant, don't know why, it is not considered to be purple. Those grapes look great, I don't think I've ever seen a purple capsicum?

What a difference a colour makes!

Hi Anonymous,

Good to see you here, do take a peep at the rest of the coloured vegetable family. ^_^

Hi katyzzz!

It's so great to see you again!
Well, I am not sure, it was suggested in the magazine that eggplant is in the purple coloured group. Probably because of the skin texture.

While eggplant does not include in the liver category, my guess is the other substants aren't good, especially people with reumathism problems should avoid eating eggplant as well. What is the exact substant that is bad for joint problems, I am not sure. But I'll post it on once I know more about it.

Thanks for dropping by again! ^_^

I love grapes and plums but for some reason i don't like the taste of eggplants unless it's cooked with eggs.

Hi Hope!

Good to see you here!

Well, eggplant is harder to cook but it is nice if you just oil them with little bit of oil, then stir fry with either oyster sauce or soy paste with garlic.

An asian way of cooking it but it smells delicious. If I can get the exact recipe I'll post it here in future. ^_^

Thank you so much for dropping by, hope to see you around again! ^_^
