What is Tinnitus?
July 23rd 2009 18:08
Yesterday, I taught a lesson inside the biology class. One of my students, Calvin stood up and asked me this question, “Sir, did you know what’s Tinnitus?” At that moment, the whole class was silent for a while. At first, the students’ vision were focused on Calvin, and then they looked at me, hoping that I’ll give the answer here…
“Well, Mr. Calvin. Thanks for the question and you might sit down now. Class, I’m going to explain the definition of Tinnitus. Hope you all will take a note on it!” I said it with a louder voice.
For your information, Tinnitus is derived from the Latin word tinnitus, which is meaning, “ringing”. Beside of the ringing sound, it could be a swishing or any type of noise that seems to originate in the ear!
Did you know that nearly 500 million of people from around the globe suffer from this disorder? Normally, most of the people who suffering with Tinnitus are always hearing severe ringing sounds in their ears, from the moment they wake up and even during their sleep hours!
Sometimes, the ringing can change into hissing, buzzing or clock clicking sounds. In this case, doctor will use a noise generator inside the ear. The noise generator can emit a low-level broad band noise and help the user not to notice the ringing sound as much as possible!
Tinnitus can turn into a psychological problem, if they’re being ignored and didn’t get the treatment right on time. For those that having the Tinnitus problem, you might want to try the meditation or Yoga!

its really horrible and SO annoying. i had some brain scans to find out what was happening because the beep i heard had started to block out my normal hearing. in the end, the doctor i saw reccomended that i just listen to music whenever i can to block out the beep. fortunately, the music works, so now i only hear the beep when im trying to sleep or something.
